Best Credit Cards for Online Shopping in India
6 March 2026 · BestCard Editorial Team

Online shopping rewards in India aren't one-size-fits-all — the "best" card depends heavily on which platforms you actually buy from, since most of the strongest rates are tied to specific merchant partnerships rather than a flat online-spend multiplier.
Ecosystem cards beat generic ones, if you actually use the ecosystem
If a large share of your online spending goes through a specific ecosystem — Tata's network of BigBasket, Croma, and Tata 1mg, for instance — a card built around that ecosystem will consistently out-earn a generic online-shopping card. The Tata Neu Infinity Credit Card is the clearest example: NeuCoins earned at an accelerated rate on Tata Neu app purchases are worth a fixed ₹1 each, redeemable directly, which sidesteps the usual problem of reward points losing value at redemption.
The tradeoff is the same one that applies to every ecosystem card — it only pays off if your spending actually maps onto that ecosystem. Buying groceries and electronics elsewhere means you're earning at the card's unremarkable base rate, not the headline number in the marketing.

Flat-rate cards for scattered spending
If your online shopping is spread across many platforms with no dominant merchant — a bit of Amazon, a bit of Myntra, the occasional Swiggy order — a flat-rate cashback card is the more reliable choice. Both SBI Card and Axis Bank offer solid flat or near-flat online-spend cashback options that don't require you to shop at any particular merchant to get the advertised rate.
The advantage of a flat-rate card here is predictability — you don't need to check merchant eligibility before every purchase, and there's no risk of a transaction silently earning at the lower base rate because the platform wasn't a bonus partner that month.
Stacking a card with platform-specific offers
Regardless of which card you carry, most major e-commerce platforms run periodic instant-discount offers tied to specific bank cards during sale events. These stack on top of your card's baseline reward rate, so it's worth checking the payment page during major sales — a 10% instant discount on a specific bank's card during a sale event is usually worth more than chasing an extra 1% reward rate the rest of the year.
