The Titan SBI Credit Card is worth it only if you spend serious money at Titan's jewellery and watch brands. It gives up to 5% value back at Tanishq, CaratLane, Mia and Zoya, and the welcome points cover the ₹2,999 fee in the first year. Outside those brands, its rewards are thin, so most people should treat it as a purchase-specific card rather than an everyday one.

Who it's for

This card is built for families making planned jewellery purchases, whether a wedding set, festival gold or an annual Dhanteras buy, at Titan group stores. If you expect to spend ₹1 lakh or more a year across Tanishq, CaratLane, Mia and Zoya, the maths works. If you visit Tanishq once in a while for a gift, it doesn't.

Fees and waiver

The joining fee and annual fee are both ₹2,999. SBI credits 12,000 bonus reward points, worth roughly ₹3,000 at 25 paise a point, once the joining fee is paid, which effectively cancels the first year's cost. From the second year, the fee is waived if you spend ₹3 lakh in the year. That's about ₹25,000 a month, though a single large jewellery purchase can get you most of the way there.

Reward structure

BestCard's data gives the card two rates:

  • Up to 5% value back at Tanishq, CaratLane, Mia and Zoya
  • About 0.5% base on everything else

Points are worth 25 paise each. "Up to" usually means conditions apply, and our data doesn't list a cap on the 5% rate, so check SBI's terms for any monthly limit and for exclusions such as gold coins before a big purchase. Many cards treat bullion and coins differently from jewellery.

Worked example

A wedding year. You buy ₹2,00,000 of jewellery at Tanishq and CaratLane and put another ₹1,00,000 of regular spending on the card.

  • Titan brands: ₹2,00,000 × 5% = ₹10,000
  • Everything else: ₹1,00,000 × 0.5% = ₹500
  • Total: ₹10,500 in value, and with ₹3 lakh of total spend, the fee is waived

A lighter year. You spend ₹50,000 at Titan brands and ₹1,00,000 elsewhere.

  • Titan brands: ₹50,000 × 5% = ₹2,500
  • Everything else: ₹500
  • Total: ₹3,000, but at ₹1.5 lakh of spend the waiver isn't met, so the ₹2,999 fee wipes it out

That second scenario is the key risk. In years when you don't buy much jewellery, the card can cost you as much as it earns.

Lounge and other benefits

Our record lists 8 complimentary domestic and 4 international lounge visits a year, but the same record also describes the card as having no lounge or travel benefits. Treat lounge access as unconfirmed until SBI states it in writing for your card. Beyond that, the card offers little: no notable dining, fuel or insurance benefits appear in our data. It runs on RuPay, so it can be linked to UPI apps that support RuPay credit cards, and its forex markup is 3.5%, so avoid using it abroad.

The figures here reflect BestCard's latest card data. SBI Card updates co-brand terms from time to time, so verify on SBI's site before applying.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Up to 5% value back at Tanishq, CaratLane, Mia and Zoya
  • 12,000 welcome points, about ₹3,000, roughly covering the joining fee
  • Annual fee waived on ₹3 lakh of yearly spend
  • RuPay network allows UPI linking

Cons

  • ₹2,999 fee is steep for a card whose value sits with one retail group
  • About 0.5% base rate makes it poor for everyday spending
  • Lounge benefits are unclear in current records
  • 3.5% forex markup

Tips for a big jewellery purchase

Check your credit limit before you walk into the store. A ₹2 lakh purchase needs a limit comfortably above that, and using most of your limit can dent your credit score until the bill is paid. If the purchase is large, ask SBI for a temporary limit increase in advance. Be careful with EMI conversion too: many cards stop earning rewards on purchases converted to EMI, and interest and processing fees can outweigh the 5% you earn, so confirm the terms first. Pay the statement in full and on time, because interest on an unpaid jewellery bill would wipe out the rewards within weeks. Finally, ask the store whether it has its own card offer running, since bank and brand offers sometimes stack.

Eligibility

SBI lists a minimum income of ₹35,000 a month. Approval also depends on your credit score and history. If you're planning a big jewellery purchase, apply a few weeks ahead so the card, and the welcome points, arrive in time.

How it compares

Tata Neu Infinity HDFC Bank Card: Titan is a Tata group company, and the Tata Neu Infinity card pays 5% on Tata Neu and partner Tata brand spends, plus 1.5% elsewhere and 5% on utility bills. Check whether Tanishq purchases qualify through the Neu programme before relying on it. The fee is ₹1,499, waived on ₹3 lakh, and the income bar is ₹1,00,000 a month. It's the more useful all-round card if your income qualifies. See our Tata Neu Infinity review.

Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card: the SBI version also pays 5% in NeuCoins on Tata Neu and partner Tata brands, costs ₹1,499 (waived on ₹3 lakh), adds Priority Pass with 4 international lounge visits a year, and asks for ₹50,000 a month of income. It's a broader alternative within SBI.

SBI Cashback Card: if you buy jewellery online, for example on CaratLane's website, SBI Cashback pays 5% on online spends up to ₹2,000 a month. It suits smaller online purchases, but the cap limits it on big tickets: a ₹2 lakh order would earn just ₹2,000.

Verdict

The Titan SBI Credit Card does one thing well. If you have a large, planned jewellery purchase at Titan brands, its 5% return and fee-covering welcome points make it one of the more rewarding ways to pay. If your Titan spending is occasional, a broader card like Tata Neu Infinity or a straightforward cashback card will serve you better year after year. Unsure which fits?
