Best Lifetime Free Credit Cards With Lounge Access in India

Lounge access is usually the first thing banks strip out when a card has no annual fee. It costs them real money per visit, so "lifetime free" and "lounge access" rarely sit on the same card. A small number still do it, but almost always with catches worth understanding before you apply expecting Priority Pass-level benefits.
Why this combination is rare
A bank pays roughly ₹500-1,000 per lounge visit to the lounge network operator, regardless of whether your card carries an annual fee. On a fee-paying card, that cost is recovered from your fee. On a genuinely free card, the bank is eating that cost with nothing to offset it — so they either cap visits hard (2-4 a year), restrict them to domestic lounges only, or gate them behind a minimum quarterly spend. Read the fine print on "lifetime free" claims carefully; some are free only if you maintain a spend threshold, which isn't really free.
Cards that actually offer this
IDFC FIRST Millennia — genuinely lifetime free with no spend condition to keep it that way, and gives limited complimentary domestic lounge access (typically tied to spending a minimum amount in the previous quarter). Good entry option if you fly occasionally and don't want to pay a fee just for one or two lounge visits a year.
SBI Card lifetime-free variants — a few SBI Card lifetime-free cards bundle a small number of domestic lounge visits per year, usually 2-4, often requiring a minimum spend in the preceding quarter to unlock. Check the specific variant's terms rather than assuming all SBI lifetime-free cards behave the same way — SBI runs dozens of variants with different benefit tables.
Axis Bank entry-level cards — some Axis Bank lifetime-free or low-fee cards include a couple of complimentary domestic lounge visits per year as a retention feature. Again, spend-linked in most cases, so check whether the quarterly threshold is realistic for you before counting on the benefit.
What "free" actually means here
Read three things before applying for any of these:
- Visit count and validity window — 2 visits a year isn't the same as 2 visits a quarter, and some cards reset unused visits to zero every quarter rather than letting them roll over.
- Domestic vs international — nearly all lifetime-free lounge cards restrict you to domestic lounges only. If you're expecting international lounge access, you need a fee-paying travel card, not a free one.
- Spend conditions to unlock access — many of these aren't unconditional. A minimum quarterly spend (often ₹10,000-50,000 depending on the card) is a common gate, and missing it for a quarter means no lounge access that quarter even though the card itself stays fee-free.
When a free card with lounge access isn't the right call
If you fly more than 4-6 times a year, the math flips in favor of a fee-paying travel card. A card with an annual fee of ₹1,000-3,000 that gives 8-12 unlimited or near-unlimited visits works out cheaper per visit than a free card's 2-4 capped visits, and usually adds international lounges too. Our travel credit cards with lounge access guide covers those fee-paying options, and if you're unsure whether a bank lounge program or a standalone Priority Pass membership makes more sense for your travel frequency, that comparison is worth reading before you commit to either.
Who this actually suits
Lifetime-free-with-lounge-access cards make sense for infrequent flyers — someone who takes 1-3 domestic flights a year and wants the option of a lounge without paying an annual fee for a benefit they'd barely use otherwise. If that's not you, don't let the "free lounge access" line in an ad convince you to apply; you're better served by a proper travel card.
