Flipkart Axis vs SBI Cashback Card 2026: Which Pays More?
12 October 2026 · BestCard Editorial Team

For most people who shop online across many sites, the SBI Cashback Card pays more, because its 5% applies to nearly all e-commerce spends. The Flipkart Axis Bank Card only wins when Flipkart and Myntra dominate your spending, or when a single big Flipkart purchase would blow past SBI Cashback's ₹2,000 monthly cap. Here is the full comparison, with the arithmetic.

How the rewards really differ
The two cards share a 5% headline but apply it very differently.
Flipkart Axis pays 5% only on Flipkart and Myntra, but with no monthly ceiling. It adds 4% on a set of preferred partners (Swiggy, Uber, PVR, Cleartrip and others) and a respectable 1.5% on everything else, which is higher than most entry cards.
SBI Cashback pays 5% on almost any online merchant, whether that's Amazon, Flipkart, a food app or an airline website. Offline spends get 1%. The limit is the ₹2,000 monthly cap on online cashback, which you hit at ₹40,000 of online spend in a month. Fuel is excluded from earning.
So the question is simple: is your online spending spread across many sites, or concentrated on Flipkart?
Rewards maths: two realistic months
Month 1: a typical ₹30,000 spender
- Flipkart and Myntra: ₹8,000
- Swiggy and Uber: ₹4,000
- Other online (Amazon, bill payments on apps, travel sites): ₹6,000
- Offline (groceries, restaurants, stores): ₹12,000
Flipkart Axis
- ₹8,000 × 5% = ₹400
- ₹4,000 × 4% = ₹160
- ₹6,000 × 1.5% = ₹90
- ₹12,000 × 1.5% = ₹180
- Total: ₹830 a month, about ₹9,960 a year
SBI Cashback
- Online: ₹18,000 × 5% = ₹900 (well under the ₹2,000 cap)
- Offline: ₹12,000 × 1% = ₹120
- Total: ₹1,020 a month, about ₹12,240 a year
SBI Cashback wins by roughly ₹2,280 a year. Your annual spend of ₹3,60,000 also clears both fee waivers.
Month 2: a big Flipkart sale month
- Flipkart purchase (a new phone and a few extras): ₹70,000
- Swiggy and Uber: ₹5,000
- Offline: ₹10,000
Flipkart Axis
- ₹70,000 × 5% = ₹3,500
- ₹5,000 × 4% = ₹200
- ₹10,000 × 1.5% = ₹150
- Total: ₹3,850
SBI Cashback
- Online: ₹75,000 × 5% = ₹3,750, capped at ₹2,000
- Offline: ₹10,000 × 1% = ₹100
- Total: ₹2,100
Here Flipkart Axis earns ₹1,750 more in a single month. This is the scenario where the uncapped Flipkart rate matters, and it is why people who time big purchases around Big Billion Days often keep the Axis card. Our Big Billion Days card guide covers the bank offers that stack on top.

Lounge and travel
Neither card is a travel card. Flipkart Axis includes 4 complimentary domestic lounge visits a year, one per quarter, which is a nice extra for occasional flyers. BestCard's data lists no lounge access on SBI Cashback.
Both charge a 3.5% forex markup, so neither should be your card abroad. If you travel internationally, pair either one with a low-forex card from our zero forex markup list.
Fees and waivers
Flipkart Axis is cheaper to hold: no joining fee and ₹500 a year, waived at ₹3.5 lakh annual spend. SBI Cashback costs ₹999 to join and ₹999 a year, but the waiver comes earlier, at ₹2 lakh.
In practice, if SBI Cashback is your main online card, ₹2 lakh a year (about ₹16,700 a month) is easy to reach. Flipkart Axis's ₹3.5 lakh waiver is harder if it only handles Flipkart orders. Even unwaived, ₹500 is a small cost against the rewards in both examples above.
Who should pick which
Pick SBI Cashback if:
- You shop on many sites: Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, food apps, travel portals
- Your online spending is under ₹40,000 a month, so the cap rarely bites
- You want cashback credited automatically to your statement with no redemption step
Pick Flipkart Axis if:
- Flipkart and Myntra take the largest share of your online spend
- You make big-ticket purchases on Flipkart during sales
- You use Swiggy, Uber or PVR often and want 4% there
- You want a few domestic lounge visits and a higher 1.5% base rate offline
Hold both if you spend more than ₹40,000 a month online. Route Flipkart and Myntra to the Axis card and everything else online to SBI Cashback until you near the cap.

Verdict
SBI Cashback is the better single card for most online shoppers. Its 5% works almost everywhere online and returned about ₹2,300 more a year in our typical-spender example. Flipkart Axis is the better card for Flipkart loyalists and anyone making large Flipkart purchases, since its 5% is uncapped and its 1.5% base rate beats SBI's 1% offline.
