Kotak White Reserve metal credit card on a dark surface

Kotak White Reserve is the bank's new top-of-house card, replacing the discontinued Royale Signature as its answer to the HDFC Infinias and ICICI Emeraldes of the world. It's a metal card aimed squarely at high-net-worth travel and lifestyle spenders, built around cashback rather than points, with genuinely unlimited lounge access as the headline feature. The fee is steep enough that it only makes sense if you were already going to spend like a super-premium cardholder.

Fees and eligibility at a glance

Joining and annual fees are both ₹12,500, waived on crossing ₹10,00,000 in annual spend — a demanding but not unreasonable threshold for a card pitched at this tier. The forex markup is a low 2%, competitive with the best cards in this bracket for international spend. Given the fee level and spend-based waiver, this card is realistically aimed at people already spending seven figures a year on a credit card, not aspirational upgraders.

Rewards and how they actually work

White Reserve runs on cashback rather than points, with a base rate of 1% — unremarkable on its own, and notably lower than the point-based earn rates on comparable super-premium cards like HDFC Infinia or ICICI Emeralde Private Metal. No rewardCategories with accelerated multipliers were specified for this card, and Kotak doesn't charge a redemption fee since cashback settles directly rather than requiring a separate redemption step. The card's value proposition clearly isn't the earn rate — it's the bundled travel and lifestyle benefits layered on top.

Lounge access and travel perks

This is the card's strongest selling point: unlimited complimentary lounge access at over 1,000 lounges worldwide, covering both domestic and international airports, for primary and add-on cardholders alike — no per-quarter visit cap to track or ration. Beyond lounges, White Reserve includes 2 complimentary golf rounds every month, a Club Marriott membership offering up to 25% off food and beverage at Marriott restaurants in India (20% across Asia-Pacific), and concierge services for travel, dining, and event bookings.

What's genuinely good about this card

Genuinely unlimited global lounge access, not capped by visit count or tier, puts White Reserve in the same league as HDFC Infinia on this specific benefit — a real differentiator versus the far more common model of 8-12 visits a year that most "premium" cards actually offer. The 2% forex markup is low enough to make this a reasonable card to carry abroad, not just domestically. And the Club Marriott membership plus monthly golf rounds are strong lifestyle perks that add up to real recurring value if you actually use them, rather than being one-off welcome gifts you redeem once and forget.

Where it falls short

The 1% base cashback rate is plainly weak for a card charging a ₹12,500 annual fee — you're paying a super-premium price for a mass-market earn rate, and the value here has to come almost entirely from the lounge and lifestyle benefits rather than everyday spend. No accelerated reward categories were listed for this card, which is unusual at this tier and suggests Kotak is leaning on milestone-based bonuses rather than a transparent multiplier structure, worth confirming directly before applying. And as with any card in this fee bracket, the ₹10 lakh spend threshold for a fee waiver is a real commitment — fall short and you're paying full price for benefits you may not have used consistently.

Who this card actually makes sense for

White Reserve suits someone already spending heavily who wants unlimited lounge access without tracking a visit cap, and who will make consistent use of the Club Marriott and golf perks rather than let them go unused. If cashback rate matters more to you than lounge access, this isn't the card to optimize for — you'd do better on a dedicated cashback card and a separate lounge-access card.
