RBL Insignia Credit Card Review 2026: Worth ₹7,000?
24 September 2026 · BestCard Editorial Team

The RBL Insignia Preferred Banking credit card is RBL's flagship Mastercard. It pairs a strong headline reward rate (5% base and 10% on travel in BestCard's data) with a low 1.5% forex markup, Priority Pass, golf and concierge. It's an easy recommendation if you're an RBL Insignia Preferred Banking customer, because you get it free. At ₹7,000 as a standalone card it's still solid, but you should check how RBL lets you redeem the points before counting on those headline rates.
Who it's for
- RBL Insignia Preferred Banking customers, who get the card free
- Frequent international travellers who want a low forex markup
- People who'd use golf, concierge and premium hotel benefits
- Anyone who wants a premium Mastercard outside the big-four banks
It's not for someone looking for unlimited lounge access or a simple, transparent cashback card.
Fees and waiver
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Joining fee | ₹7,000 + GST |
| Annual fee | ₹7,000 + GST |
| Fee for Preferred Banking customers | Nil |
| Fee waiver | ₹10 lakh annual spend on the standalone card, per RBL's summary in our data |
| Forex markup | 1.5% |
| Network | Mastercard |
The ₹10 lakh waiver is high for a ₹7,000 card. Most standalone holders who spend less will pay ₹8,260 a year including GST. For relationship customers the fee question doesn't arise, though meeting the roughly ₹10 lakh average balance is its own commitment.
Reward structure
In BestCard's data, Insignia earns:
- 5% base reward rate on general spends
- 10% on travel
- ₹8,000 of vouchers on ₹8 lakh spend in a membership year
Our dataset doesn't give a per-point rupee value for Insignia. The percentages are effective rates, but what a point is actually worth depends on RBL's redemption catalogue and conversion options. Check them before you treat 5% as cash in hand. Our reward point valuation guide shows how to work it out.
Worked example: ₹75,000 a month
Say ₹15,000 goes on travel and ₹60,000 on other eligible spends.
- Travel: ₹15,000 × 10% = ₹1,500
- Other: ₹60,000 × 5% = ₹3,000
- ₹4,500 a month, or ₹54,000 a year at the headline rates
- Annual spend of ₹9 lakh crosses the ₹8 lakh milestone, adding ₹8,000 in vouchers
- ₹9 lakh is below the ₹10 lakh waiver, so standalone holders pay ₹8,260 including GST
Even if RBL's redemptions turn out to be worth half the headline rate, you'd still clear the fee comfortably at this spend.
Worked example: ₹40,000 a month
With ₹5,000 on travel: ₹500 + (₹35,000 × 5% = ₹1,750) = ₹2,250 a month, or ₹27,000 a year at headline rates. Annual spend of ₹4.8 lakh misses the ₹8 lakh voucher milestone and the fee waiver.

Lounge, travel and lifestyle benefits
Lounges. 2 complimentary domestic visits every quarter (8 a year) and Priority Pass with 6 international visits a year. That's decent, but well short of the unlimited access on some cards at this price.
Forex. At 1.5%, Insignia's markup is among the lower ones for premium cards. On ₹2 lakh spent abroad, you pay ₹3,000 + ₹540 GST, against ₹7,000 + ₹1,260 GST on a 3.5% card, a saving of ₹4,720.
Golf. 4 complimentary rounds and 12 lessons a year.
Concierge and hotels. 24x7 World Class Concierge, EazyDiner Prime dining privileges, and premium hotel benefits such as room upgrades, late checkout and breakfast for two.
Insurance. ₹25 lakh air accident death cover, ₹10 lakh accidental death cover, ₹50,000 purchase protection and ₹50,000 baggage insurance.
Fuel. 1% surcharge waiver on ₹500–₹4,000 transactions, capped at ₹250 a month.

How Insignia compares
| Card | Annual fee | Base / travel rate | Forex | International lounge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RBL Insignia | ₹7,000 (free for Preferred Banking) | 5% / 10% | 1.5% | 6 a year |
| Yes Bank Marquee | ₹4,999 | 3% / 6% | 1% | Unlimited |
| AU Zenith Plus | ₹4,999 | 1% / 2% | 0.99% | 16 a year |

| RBL World Safari | ₹3,000 | 2% / 5% | 0% | 2 a year |
Yes Bank Marquee is cheaper to renew, has a lower 1% markup and gives unlimited international lounge access, with a published 30-paise point value in our data. For a standalone applicant who travels often, it's the stronger card on paper.
AU Zenith Plus has the lowest markup and the biggest lounge allowance, but much lower reward rates.
HDFC Regalia Gold is the budget option, with milestone flight vouchers and SmartBuy access. Its domestic lounges are gated behind quarterly spend.
RBL World Safari is RBL's own travel card, with 0% forex markup for ₹3,000. It's a better buy if your main goal is spending abroad. See our World Safari review.

Verdict
For RBL Insignia Preferred Banking customers, this card is a clear yes. It's free, has low forex and offers strong lifestyle perks. For standalone applicants, it's a maybe. The headline 5% and 10% rates look excellent, but without a published point value and with a ₹10 lakh waiver, Yes Bank Marquee or RBL's own World Safari may give you more for less.
