The Bank of Baroda Premier credit card is a reasonable, low-cost card for someone who eats out and books travel regularly and wants a modest step up from an entry card. It earns 2.5% on travel and dining, is free in the first year, and costs ₹1,000 after that unless you spend ₹1.2 lakh. The low cap on accelerated rewards and a single lounge visit a quarter keep it from being more than that.

Who it's for

BOB Premier, issued by BOBCARD, suits salaried professionals earning ₹60,000 a month or more who spend steadily on restaurants, food delivery and domestic travel, and who'd like an occasional lounge visit. It's a natural fit for existing Bank of Baroda customers. It's less suitable for big travel spenders, who'll hit the reward cap quickly, or for anyone who travels abroad often.

Fees and waiver

From 1 September 2026, the first year is free. After that, the annual fee is ₹1,000, waived if you spent ₹1.2 lakh on the card in the previous card year. That's ₹10,000 a month, a bar most regular users will clear without trying. New cardholders also get 500 bonus points, worth ₹125, on spending ₹5,000 within 60 days of issuance.

Reward structure

  • 10 points per ₹100 (5X) on travel, dining and international spend, which is 2.5% at ₹0.25 a point
  • 2 points per ₹100 everywhere else, or 0.5%
  • Cap: 2,000 accelerated points per statement cycle, worth ₹500

Points redeem as cashback at ₹0.25 each. The cap is the detail that matters most. You reach it at ₹20,000 of travel, dining and international spend in a statement cycle, and anything above that earns little or nothing extra.

Worked example

Say you spend ₹40,000 a month: ₹6,000 on travel, ₹5,000 on dining and food delivery, and ₹29,000 on everything else.

  • Travel and dining: ₹11,000 × 2.5% = ₹275
  • Everything else: ₹29,000 × 0.5% = ₹145
  • Total: ₹420 a month, or ₹5,040 a year

With ₹4.8 lakh of annual spend, the ₹1,000 fee is comfortably waived, so that's all net value.

Now take a month when you book a ₹30,000 holiday and spend ₹5,000 dining out. That's ₹35,000 in 5X categories, but only the first ₹20,000 earns the full rate, so you collect ₹500, an effective 1.4% on that spend. Big travel months are where this card falls behind uncapped travel cards.

Lounge, travel and other benefits

  • Domestic lounges: 1 complimentary airport lounge visit per quarter, 4 a year in total
  • International lounges: none
  • Fuel: 1% surcharge waiver on transactions between ₹400 and ₹5,000, capped at ₹250 per statement cycle
  • Forex markup: 3%

The international 5X rate looks attractive but doesn't survive the maths. Spend ₹10,000 abroad and you earn ₹250, while the 3% markup costs ₹300 plus ₹54 of GST, a net loss of about ₹104. Use a zero or low forex card overseas instead.

These details reflect BestCard's latest card data. BOBCARD revised this card's fee structure in September 2026, so verify current terms on the issuer's site before applying.

Getting the most from the card

Three habits make a real difference. First, watch your statement cycle rather than the calendar month, because the 2,000-point cap resets with each statement. If a large flight booking is coming, timing it just after your statement date spreads it into a fresh cycle. Second, put food delivery and restaurant bills on Premier, since dining is the category you're most likely to spend on every month. Third, move general spending to a card with a better base rate once you've cleared the ₹1.2 lakh waiver, because 0.5% is easy to beat. Redeem points as cashback at ₹0.25 each, and check the redemption rules before your balance builds up for long.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • First year free, then a ₹1,000 fee that's easy to waive at ₹1.2 lakh
  • 2.5% on travel and dining, with points redeemable as cashback
  • A quarterly domestic lounge visit at a modest fee
  • Fuel surcharge waiver up to ₹250 a cycle

Cons

  • Accelerated earning capped at ₹500 a statement cycle
  • 0.5% base rate is weak for general spending
  • Only one lounge visit a quarter and no international access
  • 3% forex markup cancels out the international 5X rate

Eligibility

BestCard's data lists a minimum income of ₹60,000 a month. Approval also depends on your credit score, and existing Bank of Baroda customers may find the process smoother. Our Bank of Baroda credit cards guide covers the rest of the lineup if you'd like to compare within the issuer.

How it compares

BOB Eterna: Bank of Baroda's next tier up has no joining fee and a ₹2,499 annual fee, waived on ₹2.5 lakh. It earns 3.75% on travel, dining and online shopping with a higher ₹1,250 monthly cap per category, offers unlimited domestic lounge access, and has a lower 2% forex markup. It needs ₹1,00,000 a month of income. If you qualify and spend over ₹2.5 lakh a year, it's the better card. Our BOB Eterna review covers it in full.

Federal Bank Scapia: lifetime free with zero forex markup, about 2% back on general spend and about 4% on travel booked in the Scapia app, plus unlimited domestic lounge access in months with ₹5,000 of spend. For a travel-leaning user, it beats Premier on base earn, lounges and overseas use, though its rewards are tied to the Scapia app.

YES FIRST Preferred: free to join with a ₹999 annual fee waived on ₹2.5 lakh. It earns 4% on dining and travel, 1% elsewhere, and gives 2 domestic lounge visits a quarter plus 4 international visits a year through Priority Pass, with a 2% forex markup and a ₹24,000 monthly income bar. It's a stronger all-round lifestyle card if you can reach its waiver.

Verdict

The Bank of Baroda Premier is a sensible mid-tier card with a genuinely low cost of ownership. If you spend ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 a month on travel and dining, its 2.5% rate and easy waiver deliver steady value, and the quarterly lounge visit is a pleasant extra. But rivals like YES FIRST Preferred and Federal Bank Scapia give more lounge access and better rates for similar or lower cost, so Premier makes most sense for loyal Bank of Baroda customers.
