Standard Chartered Beyond Credit Card Review 2026: Worth It?
22 September 2026 · BestCard Editorial Team

Standard Chartered Beyond is the bank's flagship super-premium card, launched in December 2025. It pairs a strong 3.33% base reward rate with unlimited domestic and international lounge access, 8 guest visits a year and a ₹15,000 welcome voucher pack. The catch is cost: ₹15,000 to join and ₹25,000 a year, with the fee waiver tied to your Standard Chartered banking relationship rather than card spend. It's excellent value for Priority Banking-level customers and expensive for everyone else.
Who Standard Chartered Beyond is for
- Affluent customers with, or willing to build, a large banking relationship with Standard Chartered
- Frequent flyers who travel with family or colleagues and will use the guest visits
- High spenders who want a strong flat earn rate without juggling bonus categories
- Taj and MakeMyTrip users who'll actually spend the welcome vouchers
Fees and waiver
| Item | Standard Chartered Beyond |
|---|---|
| Joining fee | ₹15,000 + GST |
| Annual fee | ₹25,000 + GST |
| Fee waiver | Tied to banking relationship (funds under management), no published card-spend waiver |
| Welcome benefit | ₹15,000 in Taj, Luxe and MakeMyTrip vouchers |
| Forex markup | 2% |
| Network | Visa |
| Min. monthly income | ₹2,00,000 |
With 18% GST, the first-year joining fee is ₹17,700 and the renewal is ₹29,500. The ₹15,000 voucher pack effectively covers the joining fee if you use it. After that, the ₹25,000 renewal is the number to plan around, unless your relationship with the bank qualifies you for the waiver. Ask Standard Chartered for the current funds-under-management threshold, since BestCard's data doesn't list it.
Reward structure, with a worked example
BestCard's data lists an effective 3.33% reward rate on general spend and 2% on utilities, with points valued at 25 paise each.
Example: ₹1,00,000 a month
- Utilities: ₹10,000 × 2% = ₹200
- Everything else: ₹90,000 × 3.33% = ₹2,997
- Monthly: about ₹3,197, yearly: about ₹38,364
Against a ₹29,500 renewal including GST, you're about ₹8,900 ahead on rewards alone, before lounges.
Example: ₹60,000 a month
- Utilities: ₹8,000 × 2% = ₹160
- Everything else: ₹52,000 × 3.33% = ₹1,732
- Monthly: about ₹1,892, yearly: about ₹22,700
At this level rewards fall short of the renewal fee by about ₹6,800. The gap can close if you use the unlimited lounges and guest visits often, or disappear entirely if your banking relationship waives the fee.
These figures reflect BestCard's latest card data. Standard Chartered may revise earn rates, exclusions and benefits, so check the current terms on its website before applying.

Lounge and travel benefits
- Domestic lounges: unlimited complimentary access.
- International lounges: unlimited complimentary access.
- Guest visits: 8 a year across domestic and international lounges.
- Travel privileges: curated Taj experiences and MakeMyTrip travel privileges.
- Forex: 2% markup.
The 8 guest visits are the standout. Many premium cards give unlimited access to the primary cardholder but charge for every guest, which adds up quickly for couples and families. Our piece on the hidden costs of guest entries and add-on lounge access shows how much those charges can run.
The 2% forex markup is reasonable but not exceptional at this tier. Heavy international spenders may still want a zero-markup card alongside it.
Pros and cons
Pros
- 3.33% base reward rate on everyday spend, with no category juggling
- Unlimited domestic and international lounge access
- 8 guest lounge visits a year
- ₹15,000 welcome voucher pack largely covers the joining fee
- Curated Taj and MakeMyTrip privileges
Cons
- ₹25,000 annual fee with no published card-spend waiver
- Fee waiver depends on your banking relationship, not usage
- Utilities earn only 2%
- 2% forex markup trails zero-markup alternatives
- ₹2 lakh monthly income requirement
Eligibility
BestCard's data lists a minimum monthly income of ₹2,00,000. Because the fee waiver is tied to funds under management, the card is clearly aimed at Priority Banking-adjacent customers. If you already bank with Standard Chartered at that level, speak to your relationship manager about both the card and the waiver.
How it compares
| Card | Annual fee | Base rate | Forex | Lounges | Fee waiver |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SC Beyond | ₹25,000 | 3.33% | 2% | Unlimited + 8 guests | Relationship-based |
| SC Ultimate | ₹5,000 | 3.33% | 2% | 4 domestic/quarter + 1 Priority Pass | Not listed |
| HDFC Infinia | ₹12,500 | 3.33% | 2% | Unlimited, incl. add-ons | ₹10 lakh spend |
| ICICI Emeralde Private Metal | ₹12,499 | 3% | 1.5% | Unlimited, incl. add-ons | ₹10 lakh spend |
SC Ultimate earns the same 3.33% base rate for a fifth of the fee. If you don't need unlimited lounges or guest visits, it's the smarter Standard Chartered card. Read our Standard Chartered Ultimate review.
HDFC Infinia matches Beyond's base rate at half the fee, waives it at ₹10 lakh of spend and earns much more on travel booked through HDFC's portal. See our HDFC Infinia review.
ICICI Emeralde Private Metal has a lower 1.5% forex markup and a spend-based waiver, also at roughly half the fee.

Verdict
Standard Chartered Beyond is a well-built card: a strong flat earn rate, unlimited lounges and genuinely useful guest visits. If you're a Standard Chartered Priority-level customer whose relationship waives the fee, it's an easy yes.
If you'd be paying the ₹25,000 fee yourself, the maths is tighter. You need roughly ₹75,000 to ₹80,000 a month of spend for rewards alone to cover renewal, and HDFC Infinia or ICICI Emeralde Private Metal offer similar lounge coverage at half the cost with spend-based waivers.
