IndusInd Celesta Credit Card Review 2026: Worth ₹25,000?
28 September 2026 · BestCard Editorial Team

The IndusInd Celesta is a super-premium American Express card for people who spend heavily and travel within India often. It costs ₹25,000 to join, but the joining fee comes back as welcome vouchers. What you keep paying for each year is a ₹5,000 card with unlimited domestic lounge access, monthly golf and Club Marriott. If you spend ₹10 lakh a year on one card, the renewal fee is waived too.
Who the Celesta is built for
Celesta sits at the top of IndusInd's own lineup, above cards like the Legend and the Pinnacle. It suits a fairly specific person:
- You fly domestically several times a year, often with family, and want lounge access that doesn't run out.
- You play golf, or would start if green fees were covered.
- You spend ₹8–10 lakh or more a year and can put most of it on one card.
- You already carry a Visa or Mastercard for places that don't take Amex.
If you mostly want the highest reward rate per rupee, this isn't that card. The base earn is modest, and most of the value sits in the perks.
Fees and fee waiver
| Item | IndusInd Celesta |
|---|---|
| Network | American Express |
| Joining fee | ₹25,000 + GST |
| Annual fee (year 2 onwards) | ₹5,000 + GST |
| Fee waiver spend | ₹10 lakh a year |
| Base reward rate | 1% |
| Travel reward rate | 3% |
| Domestic lounge | Unlimited, primary and add-on |
| International lounge | 2 visits per quarter |
| Golf | 1 game and 1 lesson per month at select clubs |
With 18% GST, the joining fee works out to ₹29,500 at the till. IndusInd hands back welcome vouchers worth the ₹25,000 joining fee, so the real first-year cost is the GST plus whatever value you lose if the voucher brands aren't ones you'd buy from anyway. Read the voucher list before you apply. If you wouldn't otherwise shop at those brands, a ₹25,000 voucher is worth a lot less than ₹25,000 to you.
From the second year, the ₹5,000 renewal fee (₹5,900 with GST) is reversed once you cross ₹10 lakh of annual spend. That threshold matters more than anything else in deciding whether Celesta pays for itself. Our guide on how annual fee reversal thresholds work covers which spends usually count.
Reward structure, with a worked example
BestCard's data puts Celesta's effective return at 1% on general spend and 3% on travel. These are value-back percentages. IndusInd doesn't publish a single fixed rupee value per point across every redemption option, so check the redemption catalogue before you assume you'll get exactly these numbers.
Spending ₹1,00,000 a month (₹12 lakh a year)
- Travel: ₹20,000 × 3% = ₹600
- Everything else: ₹80,000 × 1% = ₹800
- Monthly value: ₹1,400, or about ₹16,800 a year
At ₹12 lakh of annual spend you also clear the ₹10 lakh waiver, so the ₹5,000 renewal fee is reversed. The net yearly return is roughly ₹16,800, before you count lounges, golf or Club Marriott.
Spending ₹50,000 a month (₹6 lakh a year)
- Travel: ₹10,000 × 3% = ₹300
- Everything else: ₹40,000 × 1% = ₹400
- Monthly value: ₹700, or ₹8,400 a year
You don't reach the waiver here, so take off ₹5,900 for the renewal fee with GST. That leaves about ₹2,500 of reward value a year. At this spend level the card only makes sense if you use the lounges and golf a lot.

Lounge, golf and lifestyle benefits
This is where the Celesta makes its case.
- Domestic lounges: Unlimited complimentary access for the primary cardholder and add-on cardholders. Many cards at this price now limit visits or tie them to how much you spent last quarter, so open-ended access for the whole family is worth a lot. We've written about why spend-gated lounge access is spreading.
- International lounges: 2 complimentary visits per quarter, which is 8 a year if you use every quarter's allowance.
- Golf: One complimentary game and one complimentary lesson each month at select clubs. A green fee at a good club can easily cost more than a lounge visit, so a regular golfer can recover the renewal fee from this alone. See our golf privileges explainer for how bookings usually work.
- Memberships: Complimentary Club Marriott and EazyDiner Prime memberships, both useful for dining discounts.
- Movies: Up to 20% off movie and event tickets on BookMyShow.
- Concierge: 24x7 concierge service.
- Insurance: Personal air accident cover of ₹2.5 crore, plus travel cover for lost or delayed baggage, lost passport, lost ticket and missed flights.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Unlimited domestic lounge access, including add-on cardholders
- Monthly complimentary golf game and lesson
- Annual fee reversed at ₹10 lakh spend
- Welcome vouchers offset the joining fee
- Club Marriott and EazyDiner Prime included
Cons
- ₹25,000 joining fee is a big upfront outlay, even with vouchers

- Amex acceptance in India is still narrower than Visa or Mastercard
- Only really pays off for high spenders who'll use the perks
Eligibility
BestCard's data doesn't list a published minimum income for the Celesta. IndusInd pitches it at high-net-worth customers, so expect the bank to look closely at income, existing relationship and credit history. Ask your relationship manager or check the issuer's current criteria before applying.
How it compares with alternatives
| Card | Joining / annual fee | Base rate | Domestic lounge | International lounge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| IndusInd Celesta | ₹25,000 / ₹5,000 | 1% | Unlimited | 2 per quarter |
| IndusInd Pinnacle | ₹15,000 / ₹0 | 2% | Unlimited (primary) | 1 per quarter |
| HDFC Infinia | ₹12,500 / ₹12,500 | 3.33% | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Yes Bank Marquee | ₹9,999 / ₹4,999 | 3% | 24 a year | Unlimited |
IndusInd Pinnacle costs less to join, has no annual fee in our data and earns double Celesta's base rate (plus 5% on online shopping). You give up the golf, Club Marriott and add-on lounge access. For many people that's the better IndusInd card.
HDFC Infinia earns far more per rupee and has unlimited lounges on both sides, with the same ₹10 lakh waiver. It needs a much higher income (₹5 lakh a month in our data), and HDFC usually offers it by invitation.
Yes Bank Marquee has a lower joining fee, a 3% base rate, 6% on travel and a 1% forex markup, with the same ₹10 lakh waiver. It's the stronger rewards card if you qualify (₹2 lakh a month income).
Verdict
The IndusInd Celesta is a perks card more than a rewards card. If your family flies domestically often, you play golf and you can put ₹10 lakh a year on it, the yearly cost falls to almost nothing and the benefits are excellent. If you spend less, or you care most about return per rupee, the Pinnacle, Marquee or Infinia will serve you better.

Frequently asked questions
What is the joining fee of the IndusInd Celesta credit card?
The joining fee is ₹25,000 plus GST, and the renewal fee from the second year is ₹5,000 plus GST. IndusInd issues welcome vouchers worth the joining fee, so the first-year cost is largely returned if you use them.
How can I get the IndusInd Celesta annual fee waived?
The ₹5,000 annual fee is reversed if you spend ₹10 lakh or more in a card year. Below that, you pay the renewal fee in full.
Does IndusInd Celesta give international lounge access?
Yes. You get 2 complimentary international lounge visits per quarter, on top of unlimited domestic lounge access for both primary and add-on cardholders.
Is IndusInd Celesta accepted everywhere in India?
Celesta runs on the American Express network. Amex acceptance has improved a lot, but it is still narrower than Visa or Mastercard, especially at smaller merchants, so keep a second card for backup.
Is the IndusInd Celesta the same as the Federal Bank Celesta?
No. Federal Bank also sells a card called Celesta, but it is a different product with different fees and features. This review covers only the IndusInd Bank version.
