HDFC Bank Swiggy ORNGE credit card

The HDFC Bank Swiggy ORNGE Credit Card is HDFC's refreshed entry-level Swiggy co-brand. It earns 5% cashback on Swiggy and on a broader basket of everyday online categories (apparel, pharmacy, pet stores and more) than the original Swiggy card covered, plus 1% on everything else. The headline perk is a full 12 months of Swiggy One on activation. It's a ₹500 Mastercard built for people who order from Swiggy several times a week. If you rarely open Swiggy, there are better cashback cards.

Fees and eligibility at a glance

ORNGE carries a ₹500 joining fee and a ₹500 annual fee, waived on ₹1.5 lakh of annual spend. That's about ₹12,500 a month. The listed eligibility is a credit score of 700, a minimum monthly income of ₹25,000, and an age between 21 and 60, for salaried and self-employed applicants. The forex markup is 3.5%.

Rewards and how they actually work

Swiggy orders and the card's wider set of online categories earn 5% cashback. Everything else earns 1%. Cashback is credited automatically as a statement credit, with no points to convert and no redemption fee.

A household spending ₹6,000 a month on Swiggy food delivery and Instamart earns ₹300 a month. Add ₹4,000 of online spend on clothes and pharmacy orders in the bonus categories, and that's another ₹200. Then ₹10,000 of other spend at 1% adds ₹100. That's ₹600 a month, or ₹7,200 a year, on ₹20,000 of monthly spend, more than enough to clear the fee waiver along the way.

One caution. HDFC's other Swiggy cards cap their 5% cashback each month, and ORNGE's cap isn't clearly spelled out. Check the current terms before routing a large purchase through the card expecting the full 5%.

Swiggy One, Dineout and golf

The 12-month Swiggy One membership on activation is the card's standout perk. It gives free delivery and extra discounts across the Swiggy app for a full year, so frequent orderers no longer need to pay for a membership themselves. HDFC's other Swiggy cards offer only a three-month membership as a welcome benefit.

Swiggy Dineout bookings of ₹3,000 or more get an additional 10% off, up to ₹500, stacking on top of the card's regular cashback. On a ₹3,000 dinner that's ₹300 off, and the ₹500 maximum kicks in at ₹5,000.

The card also includes a Mastercard golf programme with discounted or complimentary rounds at participating courses, an unusual extra at this fee. There's a 1% fuel surcharge waiver on transactions between ₹400 and ₹1,00,000, capped at ₹250 per statement cycle. Cash withdrawals cost 2.5% or ₹500, whichever is higher, with interest from the day of withdrawal. There's no lounge access and no travel benefit.

How it compares with Swiggy BLCK and the original Swiggy card

HDFC Swiggy BLCK is the premium sibling. It costs ₹1,000 a year, waived at ₹2 lakh, and asks for a 750 credit score. It earns 10% on Swiggy Food, Instamart and Dineout, capped at ₹2,000 a month, and 5% on online partners like Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra, capped at ₹1,500 a month. It comes with a three-month Swiggy BLCK membership with priority delivery slots and exclusive restaurant offers. On ₹6,000 of monthly Swiggy spend, BLCK earns ₹600 against ORNGE's ₹300, an extra ₹3,600 a year for ₹500 more in fees. Purely on cashback, BLCK's extra 5% covers its extra ₹500 fee at about ₹10,000 of Swiggy spend a year, under ₹850 a month. So if you meet the 750 score and order regularly, BLCK earns more. ORNGE wins on the year of Swiggy One, a lower waiver threshold and an easier credit score bar.

The original Swiggy HDFC Bank Card is still worth a look. It costs the same ₹500 but needs ₹2 lakh for the waiver, and pays 10% across the Swiggy app (capped at ₹1,500 a month) and 5% on other online shopping (also capped at ₹1,500). Its welcome Swiggy One membership lasts three months, not twelve. For pure Swiggy cashback it beats ORNGE. ORNGE's case rests on the long membership, the Dineout discount and the golf access.

What's genuinely good about this card

Twelve months of Swiggy One is real, recurring value that heavy Swiggy users would otherwise pay for. The 5% rate reaches beyond Swiggy into everyday online categories like apparel and pharmacy, so the card stays useful on days you don't order in. The Dineout discount of up to ₹500 stacks on top of cashback. Golf access is a surprising extra on a ₹500 card.

Where it falls short

At 5%, ORNGE pays half of what BLCK and the original Swiggy card pay on Swiggy orders, so pure food-delivery value is lower. Spend outside the bonus categories earns only 1%. The 3.5% forex markup makes it a poor choice abroad, and there's no lounge access or travel cover.

Who this card actually makes sense for

ORNGE suits regular Swiggy users who would otherwise buy Swiggy One, eat out often enough to use the Dineout discount, and do a fair amount of online shopping for clothes and pharmacy. It's a good fit for someone with a 700 score who doesn't yet qualify for BLCK. If you do meet BLCK's 750 score and your Swiggy bill is your biggest monthly spend, BLCK's 10% will earn you more despite the higher fee.
