HSBC Live+ vs HDFC Millennia 2026: Which Cashback Card Fits You?
17 October 2026 · BestCard Editorial Team

HSBC Live+ and HDFC Millennia both pay cashback, but they accelerate opposite kinds of spending. Live+ pays 10% on dining, groceries, utilities and online shopping, yet excludes Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra. Millennia pays 5% on exactly those big marketplaces, plus Swiggy, Zomato and other listed merchants. If your spending is spread across everyday categories, Live+ earns far more. If most of it flows through Amazon and Flipkart, Millennia wins. Income matters too: Live+ needs ₹1 lakh a month, Millennia ₹35,000.

How the rewards actually work
HSBC Live+
HSBC Live+ pays 10% cashback on dining and food delivery, groceries, utilities and online shopping, each capped at ₹1,000 a month in our data. Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra are excluded from the online category and earn 1%, as does everything outside the four bonus categories.
HDFC Millennia
HDFC Millennia pays 5% CashPoints on a list of online merchants that includes Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Swiggy, Zomato and BookMyShow, capped at ₹1,000 a month. Groceries earn 2.5% up to ₹500 a month, utilities 1% up to ₹200, and other spends 1%. You also get 1,000 CashPoints on joining. Online stores that aren't on HDFC's list earn the 1% base rate.
Worked example 1: ₹30,000 a month, mixed spending
Split: ₹5,000 Swiggy and Zomato, ₹6,000 groceries, ₹3,000 bills, ₹8,000 Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra, ₹3,000 other online stores, ₹5,000 other.
HSBC Live+
- Food delivery: 10% × ₹5,000 = ₹500
- Groceries: 10% × ₹6,000 = ₹600
- Bills: 10% × ₹3,000 = ₹300
- Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra: 1% × ₹8,000 = ₹80
- Other online: 10% × ₹3,000 = ₹300
- Other: 1% × ₹5,000 = ₹50
- Total: ₹1,830 a month, ₹21,960 a year
HDFC Millennia
- Swiggy, Zomato, Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra: 5% × ₹13,000 = ₹650, under the ₹1,000 cap
- Other online (not on HDFC's list): 1% × ₹3,000 = ₹30
- Groceries: 2.5% × ₹6,000 = ₹150
- Bills: 1% × ₹3,000 = ₹30
- Other: 1% × ₹5,000 = ₹50
- Total: ₹910 a month, ₹10,920 a year
Both fees are waived at ₹3.6 lakh a year. Live+ earns about ₹11,000 more because groceries, bills and food delivery all earn 10%.

Worked example 2: ₹20,000 a month, marketplace-heavy
Split: ₹15,000 Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra, ₹2,000 groceries, ₹1,000 bills, ₹2,000 other.
HSBC Live+
- Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra: 1% × ₹15,000 = ₹150
- Groceries: 10% × ₹2,000 = ₹200
- Bills: 10% × ₹1,000 = ₹100
- Other: 1% × ₹2,000 = ₹20
- Total: ₹470 a month, ₹5,640 a year
HDFC Millennia
- Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra: 5% × ₹15,000 = ₹750
- Groceries: 2.5% × ₹2,000 = ₹50
- Bills: 1% × ₹1,000 = ₹10
- Other: 1% × ₹2,000 = ₹20
- Total: ₹830 a month, ₹9,960 a year
At ₹2.4 lakh a year, both fees are waived. Millennia earns about ₹4,300 more because Live+'s marketplace exclusion takes out most of this person's spend. Note that Millennia's ₹1,000 online cap is reached at ₹20,000 of eligible online spend, so a heavier marketplace shopper won't gain much beyond that.
Lounge access and travel
Live+ is the better travel companion. Its 1.99% forex markup compares with 3.5% on Millennia, a difference of about ₹1,510 on every ₹1 lakh spent abroad. Live+ also includes domestic and international lounge access through the Visa Infinite programme; BestCard's data doesn't list a visit count, so check HSBC's terms. Millennia offers one domestic lounge voucher per quarter only after ₹1 lakh of spend in that quarter, and you pick it instead of a ₹1,000 gift voucher. Redemption: cashback vs CashPoints
Live+ pays straight cashback. Millennia pays CashPoints that you redeem 1:1 against your statement or for partner vouchers. The rupee value is the same, but Millennia needs you to log in and redeem, and points you forget about do nothing for you. Our guide to cashback vs reward points covers the trade-off in more depth.
Fees and waivers
The fees are almost identical, ₹999 against ₹1,000. The waivers aren't. Millennia waives at ₹1 lakh of annual spend, about ₹8,300 a month. Live+ needs ₹2 lakh, about ₹16,700 a month. If you spend between those two levels, you'd pay the fee on Live+ and not on Millennia.
Eligibility is the other gap. Live+ asks for ₹1 lakh a month of income and a 750 credit score. Millennia asks for ₹35,000 and 700.
Who should pick which
Choose HSBC Live+ if:
- You earn ₹1 lakh a month or more
- You spend a lot on food delivery, dining, groceries and bills
- You shop online at stores other than Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra
- You travel abroad and want a lower forex markup and lounge access
Choose HDFC Millennia if:
- Most of your shopping goes through Amazon, Flipkart or Myntra
- Your income is between ₹35,000 and ₹1 lakh a month
- Your annual spend is between ₹1 lakh and ₹2 lakh, where only Millennia's waiver kicks in
Verdict
For people who qualify and spend across everyday categories, HSBC Live+ earns roughly twice what HDFC Millennia does, and it is the better card abroad. Millennia is the better pick for marketplace-heavy shoppers and for anyone below HSBC's income bar. Because their strengths don't overlap, holding both works well: Millennia for Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra up to its ₹1,000 cap, Live+ for food, groceries, bills and other online stores.
