Swiggy HDFC Bank Credit Card Review 2026: Worth ₹500 a Year?
9 October 2026 · BestCard Editorial Team

The Swiggy HDFC Bank Credit Card is one of the best value cards in India if you order from Swiggy every week: 10% cashback across the whole Swiggy app, 5% on other online shopping, and a ₹500 fee that's easy to waive. If you rarely use Swiggy, its value drops fast and a general cashback card will serve you better.
Who this card is for
This is a card for people whose monthly Swiggy bill is a real line item: food delivery several times a week, Instamart for groceries, Dineout for restaurant bookings. It also suits younger earners, since the income requirement in our data is just ₹15,000 a month.
It's not a travel card, not a fuel card and not a premium card. Think of it as a high-earning second card that sits next to your main card.
Fees and fee waiver
| Item | Swiggy HDFC Bank Card |
|---|---|
| Joining fee | ₹500 + GST |
| Annual fee | ₹500 + GST |
| Fee waiver | ₹2,00,000 annual spend |
| Forex markup | 3.5% |
| Minimum income | ₹15,000 a month |
| Network | Visa |
The ₹2 lakh waiver works out to about ₹16,700 a month. Many heavy Swiggy users will cross that naturally once online shopping is added in.
Reward structure
All rates below come from BestCard's latest card data. HDFC revises cashback terms from time to time, so confirm the current terms on HDFC's site before you apply.
- 10% cashback on Swiggy (food delivery, Instamart, Dineout and Genie), capped at ₹1,500 a month
- 5% cashback on other online shopping, capped at ₹1,500 a month
- 1% cashback on other eligible spends
- No cashback on fuel, rent, wallet loads, EMI and jewellery purchases
Cashback is credited automatically to your card account, with no points to convert or catalogue to browse. That simplicity is a big part of the appeal.
The caps tell you where the card tops out. You hit the Swiggy cap at ₹15,000 of monthly Swiggy spend, and the online shopping cap at ₹30,000 of monthly online spend.
Worked example: what you actually earn
A regular user spends ₹25,000 a month on the card:
| Category | Monthly spend | Rate | Cashback |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swiggy (food + Instamart) | ₹8,000 | 10% | ₹800 |
| Other online shopping | ₹10,000 | 5% | ₹500 |
| Other eligible spends | ₹7,000 | 1% | ₹70 |
| Total | ₹25,000 | ₹1,370 |
That's ₹16,440 a year. Annual spend is ₹3,00,000, so the ₹500 fee is waived. Even a lighter user spending ₹4,000 a month on Swiggy earns ₹4,800 a year from that category alone.
A heavy user puts ₹18,000 a month on Swiggy. At 10% that would be ₹1,800, but the cap holds it at ₹1,500. The last ₹3,000 of Swiggy spend effectively earns nothing, so this user might move some Instamart orders to another card once the cap is reached.

Other benefits
The list is short. You get a complimentary 3-month Swiggy One membership on card activation, giving free delivery and extra discounts across Swiggy Food, Instamart and Dineout during the trial. There's a 1% fuel surcharge waiver on transactions between ₹400 and ₹1,00,000, capped at ₹250 per statement cycle.
There's no lounge access, no travel insurance worth mentioning and a 3.5% forex markup, so leave this card at home when you travel abroad.
How to get the most from it
Put every Swiggy order on this card, including Instamart groceries and Dineout bills, until you near the ₹15,000 monthly Swiggy spend that maxes out the cap. Use it for other online shopping up to ₹30,000 a month, where the 5% cap runs out. Move fuel, rent and wallet loads to another card, since they earn nothing here. And use the Swiggy One trial in the first three months, because free delivery on top of 10% cashback is the best value the card ever gives you.

How it compares with alternatives
HDFC Swiggy BLCK: costs ₹1,000 a year (waived at ₹2 lakh) and raises the Swiggy cap to ₹2,000 a month at the same 10% rate, with 5% on online shopping capped at ₹1,500. Worth it only if you regularly spend over ₹15,000 a month on Swiggy. Our Swiggy BLCK review runs the maths.
HDFC Swiggy ORNGE: ₹500 a year with an easier ₹1.5 lakh waiver, but only 5% on Swiggy and online shopping. It suits lighter Swiggy users who want a lower waiver bar.
SBI Cashback Card: ₹999 a year (waived at ₹2 lakh) with 5% on all online shopping, capped at ₹2,000 a month. Better if your spending is spread across many apps rather than concentrated on Swiggy. You can apply for the SBI Cashback Card here.
ICICI Amazon Pay: lifetime free with 5% on online shopping per our data. If Amazon is your bigger habit, this pairs well with the Swiggy card. See our Swiggy HDFC vs Amazon Pay ICICI comparison.

Verdict
If you spend ₹4,000 or more a month on Swiggy, the Swiggy HDFC Bank card pays for itself many times over and is one of the easiest recommendations in the entry-level segment. Pair it with a no-fee card for fuel and a low-forex card for travel, and you've covered most of your spending well. If Swiggy is an occasional treat, skip it and pick a flat cashback card instead.
