Tata Neu Infinity (HDFC) and Flipkart Axis are both co-branded cards that pay cashback inside a shopping ecosystem, and the right one depends on where your money goes. Tata Neu Infinity pays 5% at Tata brands and on utility bills, and a high 1.5% everywhere else, and it adds lounge access and a 2% forex markup. Flipkart Axis pays more on its own platforms, 7.5% on Myntra and 5% on Flipkart and Cleartrip, but only 1% on anything outside its partners and it lists no lounges. How the rewards actually work

Tata Neu Infinity (HDFC)

Tata Neu Infinity earns a flat 1.5% in NeuCoins on everything, 5% at Tata retail brands such as BigBasket, Croma, Tata 1mg, Tata CLiQ, Westside and Titan, and a flat 5% on utility bill payments regardless of merchant. NeuCoins redeem 1:1 for rupees inside the Tata Neu app. Our data lists no monthly cap. See our Tata Neu Infinity review and rewards guide for the detail.

Flipkart Axis

Flipkart Axis pays 7.5% on Myntra, 5% on Flipkart and Cleartrip, unlimited 4% on preferred merchants like Swiggy, Uber and PVR, and 1% everywhere else. Myntra is capped at ₹4,000 cashback per statement quarter, and Flipkart and Cleartrip at ₹4,000 per quarter per merchant. That means the 5% rate stops once you spend ₹80,000 a quarter on a single merchant. Cashback lands on your statement within 5 days with no redemption fee.

Worked example 1: ₹30,000 a month

Split: ₹6,000 Flipkart, ₹3,000 Myntra, ₹4,000 Swiggy, Uber or PVR, ₹6,000 at Tata brands, ₹3,000 utilities, ₹8,000 other. Annual spend ₹3.6 lakh.

Tata Neu Infinity

  • Tata brands: 5% × ₹6,000 = ₹300
  • Utilities: 5% × ₹3,000 = ₹150
  • Everything else (₹21,000) at 1.5% = ₹315
  • Total: ₹765 a month, ₹9,180 a year
  • ₹3.6 lakh clears the ₹3 lakh waiver, so no fee

Flipkart Axis

  • Flipkart: 5% × ₹6,000 = ₹300
  • Myntra: 7.5% × ₹3,000 = ₹225
  • Preferred merchants: 4% × ₹4,000 = ₹160
  • Tata brands, utilities and other (₹17,000) at 1% = ₹170
  • Total: ₹855 a month, ₹10,260 a year
  • ₹3.6 lakh clears the ₹3.5 lakh waiver, so no fee, though only just
  • Caps are not close: ₹900 a quarter on Flipkart and ₹675 on Myntra, against ₹4,000

Flipkart Axis earns ₹1,080 more a year here. If your spend dips below ₹3.5 lakh, subtract ₹500.

Worked example 2: ₹80,000 a month

Split: ₹15,000 Flipkart, ₹5,000 Myntra, ₹8,000 preferred merchants, ₹15,000 Tata brands, ₹7,000 utilities, ₹30,000 other. Annual spend ₹9.6 lakh.

Tata Neu Infinity

  • Tata brands: 5% × ₹15,000 = ₹750
  • Utilities: 5% × ₹7,000 = ₹350
  • Everything else (₹58,000) at 1.5% = ₹870
  • Total: ₹1,970 a month, ₹23,640 a year
  • Lounge unlock needs ₹50,000 a quarter, which you clear easily

Flipkart Axis

  • Flipkart: 5% × ₹15,000 = ₹750 (₹2,250 a quarter, under the cap)
  • Myntra: 7.5% × ₹5,000 = ₹375 (₹1,125 a quarter)
  • Preferred merchants: 4% × ₹8,000 = ₹320
  • Tata brands, utilities and other (₹52,000) at 1% = ₹520
  • Total: ₹1,965 a month, ₹23,580 a year

The two are within ₹60 a year. At this spend, Tata Neu Infinity wins on extras: lounge access, insurance and a lower forex markup. It also pays more on ordinary spending, where Flipkart Axis falls to 1%. We counted the Tata 5% only at Tata brands and on utilities. If the 5% extends wider in practice, Tata earns more.

Lounge access and travel

Tata Neu Infinity lists 2 complimentary domestic lounge visits per quarter (up to 8 a year), unlocked by ₹50,000 of quarterly spend, and 4 international visits a year through Priority Pass. Flipkart Axis lists no lounge access. Tata also adds ₹1 crore accidental air death or disability cover and ₹15 lakh emergency hospitalization cover, which stays active if the card is used for at least one transaction before the covered event.

Abroad, Tata's 2% forex markup is below Flipkart Axis's 3.5%. On ₹1 lakh of foreign spend that is ₹2,000 against ₹3,500. One more point: Tata Neu Infinity is a RuPay card, which our data says limits use on some international and non-UPI-linked checkout flows. Flipkart Axis runs on Visa. Our low forex markup guide lists better options for frequent travellers.

Fees and waivers

Flipkart Axis costs ₹500 a year, waived at ₹3.5 lakh, about ₹29,200 a month. Tata Neu Infinity costs ₹1,499 a year, waived at ₹3 lakh, about ₹25,000 a month. The Tata fee is higher but easier to waive. Flipkart Axis also adds ₹350 of welcome benefits: a ₹250 Flipkart voucher on first transaction within 30 days (paid-fee cards only) and 50% off up to ₹100 on Swiggy for first-time users.

Eligibility differs sharply: Flipkart Axis asks for ₹15,000 a month and accepts applicants from 18 to 70. Tata Neu Infinity asks for ₹1,00,000 a month and a 730 score.

Who should pick which

Choose Tata Neu Infinity if:

  • You earn ₹1,00,000 a month or more and want lounge access
  • You shop at BigBasket, Croma, Tata CLiQ, Westside or Titan
  • You pay large utility bills on the card
  • You want a lower forex markup and insurance cover

Choose Flipkart Axis if:

  • You shop mainly on Flipkart, Myntra and Cleartrip
  • You spend on Swiggy, Uber or PVR and want an unlimited 4%
  • Your income is below ₹1,00,000 a month
  • You want a ₹500 fee and are happy with no lounge access

Verdict

For shoppers who live on Flipkart and Myntra, Flipkart Axis earns more on moderate spend and costs less to hold. For people who buy from Tata brands, pay bills on the card and want lounge access, Tata Neu Infinity is the more rounded card, and it matches Flipkart Axis at higher spend. Many people will do best holding one and adding the other only if both ecosystems matter.
