Yes Bank Marquee and HDFC Infinia are two of India's most exclusive Visa credit cards, and both are largely invitation-led. Infinia is the better earner if you use HDFC's SmartBuy portal, and it gives unlimited lounge access in India and abroad. Marquee is the easier one to qualify for, with a ₹2,00,000 income bar against ₹5,00,000, and it charges half Infinia's forex markup. If you cannot get an Infinia invite, Marquee is a reasonable second.

A note on Marquee's fee: the fee fields list ₹4,999 a year with a waiver at ₹10,00,000 of spend, while one summary line in our data describes no recurring annual fee after the joining fee. This post uses the fee fields, so confirm with Yes Bank before applying.

How the rewards actually work

Yes Bank Marquee

Yes Bank Marquee earns 6% on travel, 5% on dining and 3% on everything else, and our data describes these rates as uncapped. Points are valued at ₹0.30 in our data. Other perks include 24x7 concierge, a credit shield cover up to ₹3 lakh, overseas travel insurance that covers flight delay, baggage loss and medical emergencies, and 6-month accidental damage cover on mobiles and electronics.

HDFC Infinia

HDFC Infinia earns 3.33% on general spends. Reward Points are valued at ₹1 in our data, which is the highest in this comparison, and the rate rises to 16.65% on flight bookings via SmartBuy, with hotels earning up to 10X, subject to monthly caps. The exact cap is not listed in our data. The 12,500-point welcome bonus roughly refunds the joining fee, and points redeem for flights, hotels or statement credit with no fee. Our data shows a complimentary Club Marriott membership for the first year.

Worked example 1: ₹1,00,000 a month

Split: ₹20,000 on travel, ₹15,000 on dining, ₹65,000 on everything else. Annual spend ₹12,00,000.

Yes Bank Marquee

  • Travel: 6% × ₹20,000 = ₹1,200
  • Dining: 5% × ₹15,000 = ₹750
  • Other: 3% × ₹65,000 = ₹1,950
  • Total: ₹3,900 a month, ₹46,800 a year
  • ₹12 lakh clears the ₹10 lakh waiver, so no annual fee

HDFC Infinia

  • With the travel spend booked as flights on SmartBuy: 16.65% × ₹20,000 = ₹3,330
  • Dining and other at 3.33% × ₹80,000 = ₹2,664
  • Total: ₹5,994 a month, ₹71,928 a year
  • Without any SmartBuy use: 3.33% × ₹1,00,000 = ₹3,330 a month, ₹39,960 a year
  • ₹12 lakh clears the ₹10 lakh waiver

With SmartBuy, Infinia is ahead by about ₹25,100 a year. Without it, Marquee is ahead by about ₹6,800 because of its 6% travel and 5% dining rates.

Worked example 2: ₹2,50,000 a month

Split: ₹50,000 on travel, ₹40,000 on dining, ₹1,60,000 on everything else. Annual spend ₹30,00,000.

Yes Bank Marquee

  • Travel: 6% × ₹50,000 = ₹3,000
  • Dining: 5% × ₹40,000 = ₹2,000
  • Other: 3% × ₹1,60,000 = ₹4,800
  • Total: ₹9,800 a month, ₹1,17,600 a year

HDFC Infinia

  • Travel as SmartBuy flights: 16.65% × ₹50,000 = ₹8,325
  • Dining and other: 3.33% × ₹2,00,000 = ₹6,660
  • Total: ₹14,985 a month, ₹1,79,820 a year
  • Without SmartBuy: 3.33% × ₹2,50,000 = ₹8,325 a month, ₹99,900 a year

Infinia's headline number depends on SmartBuy and on its monthly caps, which our data does not quantify. Treat ₹1,79,820 as a ceiling, and ₹99,900 as the floor. Marquee's ₹1,17,600 sits between them, and it does not require a portal.

Lounge access and travel

Infinia gives unlimited domestic lounge access for primary and add-on cardholders, and unlimited international access at 1,000+ lounges via Priority Pass. Marquee gives 24 domestic visits a year for primary and add-on cardholders and unlimited international visits via Priority Pass. For most travellers, 24 domestic visits is plenty, so the gap matters only if you fly very often.

On golf, Infinia is more generous: unlimited complimentary games and lessons per quarter against Marquee's 4 green-fee waivers a year plus 1 lesson a month. On foreign spend, Marquee's 1% forex markup beats Infinia's 2%: ₹1,000 against ₹2,000 on ₹1,00,000 abroad. Over a year with ₹5,00,000 of overseas spend, that saves ₹5,000. Infinia's travel perks include Club Marriott membership for the first year, while Marquee lists premium hotel and golf memberships. See our super-premium credit cards guide for the wider field.

Fees and waivers

Marquee costs ₹9,999 to join and ₹4,999 a year, waived at ₹10,00,000. Infinia costs ₹12,500 to join and ₹12,500 a year, with the same ₹10,00,000 waiver. The Infinia fee is partly offset by its 12,500-point welcome bonus, worth about ₹12,500 in our data. At ₹1,00,000 a month both cards clear the waiver comfortably. Below ₹83,000 a month, you would pay the fee on either card.

Eligibility is the real filter. Infinia lists a ₹5,00,000 monthly income and a 780 credit score, and our data calls it largely invite-only. Marquee lists ₹2,00,000 a month and the same score, also largely invite-based. Infinia's data also lists a 23.88% APR against Marquee's 42%, which would matter only if you carry a balance, and neither card suits that.

Who should pick which

Choose Yes Bank Marquee if:

  • Your income is closer to ₹2,00,000 than ₹5,00,000 a month
  • You travel abroad often and want a 1% forex markup
  • Your spend is split between travel and dining
  • You do not want to depend on a booking portal for rewards

Choose HDFC Infinia if:

  • You can get an invite and meet the ₹5,00,000 monthly income bar
  • You will book flights and hotels through SmartBuy
  • You want unlimited domestic and international lounge access
  • You value unlimited golf games and lessons

Verdict

If you can qualify for it, HDFC Infinia is the stronger card, mainly because of SmartBuy rewards and unlimited lounges, but only if you will actually use the portal. Without SmartBuy, its advantage over Marquee disappears at moderate spend. Yes Bank Marquee is the more accessible card, with a lower income bar, a 1% forex markup and strong travel and dining rates. Both are awkward to get, so apply to whichever one you realistically qualify for.
