IndusInd Legend and HDFC Regalia Gold sit in the same premium band but offer different things. Legend is nearly free to hold and simple, with Priority Pass lounge access and a straightforward reward rate. Regalia Gold costs ₹2,500 a year but pays back through large flight-voucher milestones, quarterly shopping vouchers and travel perks, as long as you spend enough to unlock them. At lower spend Legend is the cheaper, easier card. Once you cross ₹5 lakh a year, Regalia Gold usually pulls ahead.

All figures are from BestCard's card data, last verified on 24 October 2026.

A note on Legend's reward rate: our structured data lists 1.5%, while the card summary describes 1 point per ₹100 on weekdays and 2 points per ₹100 on weekends. At ₹0.25 a point that second reading would be far lower, so confirm the current table on IndusInd Bank's site. The examples below use the 1.5% figure, which is the optimistic case for Legend.

How the rewards actually work

IndusInd Legend

IndusInd Legend has no listed bonus categories. You earn a flat base rate, with double points on weekend spends, and a one-time bonus of 4,000 points (about ₹1,000) when you reach ₹6,00,000 of spend within a year of issuance. Beyond that, the extras are Priority Pass access, a monthly BookMyShow buy-one-get-one offer (the free ticket's value is capped), a 1% fuel surcharge waiver and a ₹25 lakh air accident cover.

HDFC Regalia Gold

HDFC Regalia Gold earns 5 Reward Points per ₹200 since 15 May 2026, worth about 1.25% at ₹0.50 a point on SmartBuy flights and hotels. Points are worth up to ₹0.65 on the Gold catalogue but only up to ₹0.20 as statement credit, so redemption choice matters. 5X points apply at Myntra, Nykaa, Reliance Digital and Marks & Spencer, capped at 5,000 bonus points a month, and grocery points are capped at 2,000 a month. Milestones add ₹5,000 of flight vouchers each at ₹5,00,000 and ₹7,50,000 of annual spend, plus a ₹1,500 Myntra or Nykaa voucher for every quarter with ₹1,50,000 of spend.

Worked example 1: ₹50,000 a month

Annual spend ₹6,00,000, ₹1,50,000 a quarter, spread evenly with no heavy 5X merchants.

IndusInd Legend

  • Base: 1.5% × ₹50,000 = ₹750 a month, ₹9,000 a year
  • Milestone: 4,000 points at ₹6 lakh × ₹0.25 = ₹1,000
  • Total: ₹10,000 a year, no annual fee

HDFC Regalia Gold

  • Base: 1.25% × ₹50,000 = ₹625 a month, ₹7,500 a year
  • Milestone: ₹5,000 flight voucher at ₹5 lakh
  • Subtotal: ₹12,500 a year
  • Quarterly vouchers: ₹1.5 lakh a quarter just meets the bar, so up to 4 × ₹1,500 = ₹6,000 if you shop at Myntra or Nykaa
  • Annual fee ₹2,500 is waived because ₹6 lakh is above ₹4 lakh

Regalia Gold leads by ₹2,500 a year even without the shopping vouchers, and by up to ₹8,500 with them.

Worked example 2: ₹1,00,000 a month

Annual spend ₹12,00,000, ₹3,00,000 a quarter.

IndusInd Legend

  • Base: 1.5% × ₹1,00,000 = ₹1,500 a month, ₹18,000 a year
  • Milestone: ₹1,000
  • Total: ₹19,000 a year

HDFC Regalia Gold

  • Base: 1.25% × ₹1,00,000 = ₹1,250 a month, ₹15,000 a year
  • Flight vouchers: ₹5,000 at ₹5 lakh plus ₹5,000 at ₹7.5 lakh = ₹10,000
  • Subtotal: ₹25,000 a year
  • Quarterly Myntra or Nykaa vouchers: 4 × ₹1,500 = ₹6,000 if used, taking the total to ₹31,000
  • No annual fee, since ₹12 lakh clears ₹4 lakh

Regalia Gold leads by ₹6,000 without the vouchers and ₹12,000 with them. Remember that flight vouchers are only worth their face value if you actually book flights, and that the 5X merchants would add more for heavy Myntra or Nykaa shoppers.

Lounge access and travel

Regalia Gold gives 3 domestic lounge visits per calendar quarter, but only if you spent ₹60,000 in the preceding quarter, so new cardholders get nothing in their first quarter. It also gives 6 international visits a year through a Priority Pass membership, plus Boarding Edge (from 15 May 2026): upload a boarding pass on SmartBuy and pick any 2 of a spa visit, Uber airport transfer, hotel dining or room upgrade each quarter.

Legend's Priority Pass covers 600+ lounges, but our data does not list how many visits are free, and usage charges may apply beyond them. Do not assume unlimited access. Legend's edge abroad is a 1.8% forex markup, with concierge assistance listed as a travel benefit. On ₹1,00,000 of foreign spend that is ₹1,800 against ₹2,000 on Regalia Gold. For a fuller picture see our credit card forex markup guide.

Fees and waivers

Legend lists a ₹5,000 joining fee and no annual fee, so the question is whether the joining cost is repaid. In our examples it is, in roughly seven months of base rewards at ₹50,000 a month (₹750 a month against ₹5,000). Regalia Gold costs ₹2,500 to join and ₹2,500 a year, but the annual fee is waived at ₹4,00,000, about ₹33,400 a month. It also lists complimentary Swiggy One and MakeMyTrip Black Gold memberships on ₹1,00,000 of spend within 90 days.

Eligibility is very different. Legend lists a ₹20,000 minimum monthly income, while Regalia Gold needs ₹1,50,000 a month (₹1,00,000 for government employees). That alone rules out Regalia Gold for many applicants.

Who should pick which

Choose IndusInd Legend if:

  • You want a premium card with no annual fee
  • Your income is below Regalia Gold's ₹1,50,000 bar
  • You spend a fair amount on weekends
  • You travel abroad occasionally and prefer the lower forex markup

Choose HDFC Regalia Gold if:

  • You will spend ₹5 lakh or more a year and can collect the flight vouchers
  • You shop at Myntra, Nykaa, Reliance Digital or Marks & Spencer
  • You want a guaranteed 6 international lounge visits a year
  • You can meet the ₹60,000 quarterly spend for domestic lounges

Verdict

At ₹50,000 a month Regalia Gold earns about ₹2,500 more than Legend, and about ₹6,000 more at ₹1,00,000, before counting shopping vouchers. Legend still wins on holding cost and eligibility. If your income or spend is modest, take Legend. If you clear ₹5 lakh a year and qualify, HDFC Regalia Gold is the better earner, though you should verify Legend's reward table first, since a lower weekday rate would widen the gap.
