The best Diners Club credit card in India for most high spenders is the HDFC Diners Club Black Metal Edition, which earns a 3.33% base rate on points worth ₹1, includes unlimited lounge access and costs ₹10,000 a year, waived at ₹8 lakh of spend. If you want Diners Club perks without a big fee, HDFC Diners Club Privilege at ₹1,000 is the sensible pick. Every Diners Club card in BestCard's dataset comes from HDFC Bank, and all of them share one trade-off: narrower acceptance than Visa or Mastercard.

Why choose a Diners Club card at all

Diners Club cards in India come with some of HDFC's richest reward structures, especially at the top end. They also carry network-level perks, which our explainer on Visa, Mastercard and Diners Club network benefits covers in detail.

The catch is acceptance. Big-city restaurants, airlines, hotels and large online merchants generally take Diners Club, but smaller shops, some payment gateways and many merchants abroad don't. Anyone holding a Diners card as their main card should carry a Visa or Mastercard alongside it.

The 4 Diners Club cards, compared

Card Annual fee Fee waiver Base rate Top category rate Forex Lounge access Min. monthly income
HDFC Diners Club Black Metal ₹10,000 ₹8 lakh 3.33% 16.65% dining (accelerated, monthly cap) 2% Unlimited domestic and international ₹2,50,000
HDFC Diners Club Privilege ₹1,000 ₹3 lakh 1% 2.5% dining 3.5% 2 domestic + 1 international voucher a quarter (spend-gated) ₹35,000
HDFC Diners Club Premium ₹2,500 ₹3 lakh 2.67% 8% travel 3.5% Domestic and international, no spend condition ₹1,00,000
HDFC Harley-Davidson Diners Club ₹2,500 ₹3 lakh 2.67% 8% travel, 6% dining 3.5% 2 domestic + 2 international a quarter (spend-gated) ₹75,000

1. HDFC Diners Club Black Metal Edition: best overall

Fee: ₹10,000 + GST joining and annual, waived at ₹8 lakh a year Rewards: 3.33% base on points worth ₹1; up to 16.65% on accelerated dining channels, subject to a monthly cap Lounges: unlimited access to 1,300+ lounges in India and abroad for primary and add-on cardholders Forex: 2%

This is the Diners Club card to get if you qualify. The 3.33% base rate matches HDFC Infinia, and BestCard's data lists 5X points on Swiggy and Zomato, up to 25% off at partner restaurants, and 10,000 bonus points in any quarter where spend reaches ₹4 lakh. Spend ₹1.5 lakh in the first 90 days and you get Club Marriott, Amazon Prime and Swiggy One memberships. You also get 6 golf games or lessons a quarter.

Worked example: at ₹1.5 lakh a month, base rewards are ₹4,995 a month, or ₹59,940 a year. Each quarter's ₹4.5 lakh spend crosses the ₹4 lakh milestone, adding 40,000 points (₹40,000) a year. That's about ₹99,940 a year, with the fee waived.

The ₹2.5 lakh monthly income bar is the hurdle. Our Diners Club Black review goes deeper, and we've compared it with Axis's flagship in Diners Club Black vs Axis Magnus.

2. HDFC Diners Club Privilege: best low-fee option

Fee: ₹1,000 + GST, waived at ₹3 lakh a year Rewards: 1% base (4 points per ₹200 at 50 paise a point); 2.5% on dining, with 5X on Swiggy and Zomato (bonus capped at 2,500 points a month) Lounges: 2 domestic + 1 international voucher per quarter, earned with ₹60,000 spend in the previous quarter Forex: 3.5%

Privilege is the entry point into Diners Club. Beyond rewards, you get Buy 1 Get 1 weekend movie tickets on BookMyShow (up to 2 free tickets a month, ₹250 each), a ₹1,500 partner voucher for every ₹1.5 lakh spent in a quarter, and Swiggy One plus Times Prime once you spend ₹75,000 in the first 90 days.

Worked example: at ₹40,000 a month, 1% base earns ₹400 a month, or ₹4,800 a year. Your ₹1.2 lakh quarterly spend qualifies you for lounge vouchers every quarter, and ₹4.8 lakh a year clears the waiver. Note that the base earn rate dropped on 15 May 2026, so older reviews overstate it.

3. HDFC Diners Club Premium: good, but closed to new applicants

Fee: ₹2,500 + GST, waived at ₹3 lakh a year Rewards: 2.67% base on points worth 25 paise; 8% on travel and 4% on dining Lounges: domestic and international access for the primary cardholder with no spend condition Extras: ₹1 crore air accident cover

On paper, Premium sits in a sweet spot between Privilege and Black, and its lounge access isn't spend-gated. But BestCard's data notes HDFC has stopped sourcing new Diners Club Premium cards. If you already have one, it's worth keeping. If you don't, look at Privilege or Black instead. Our Diners Club Premium review covers it for existing holders.

4. HDFC Harley-Davidson Diners Club: only for Harley owners

Fee: ₹2,500 + GST, waived at ₹3 lakh a year Rewards: 2.67% base on points worth 20 paise; 8% on travel and 6% on dining; accelerated points on Harley-Davidson merchandise, servicing and accessories Lounges: 2 domestic and 2 international visits a quarter on ₹15,000 spend in the previous quarter Income: ₹75,000 a month

If you own a Harley and service it at authorised dealerships, this card adds real value on those bills, along with a ₹750 Harley-Davidson gift card and Swiggy One plus Times Prime on ₹75,000 spend in the first 90 days. Without a Harley, it's an ordinary premium Diners card. See our Harley-Davidson Diners Club review.

How to choose

  • High spender who dines out and travels: Diners Club Black Metal. Nothing else on the Diners network comes close.
  • Moderate spender who orders on Swiggy and Zomato: Diners Club Privilege. Low fee, easy waiver, useful dining perks.
  • Harley-Davidson owner: the Harley co-brand, if your servicing and accessory spend is meaningful.
  • Need lounge access without quarterly spend targets: Premium, if you already hold it. New applicants should look at Black.

Whichever you pick, check that your regular merchants accept Diners Club before you make it your primary card. If they don't, pair it with a Visa or Mastercard for the gaps. Our HDFC credit cards guide shows which HDFC cards pair well.

These figures reflect BestCard's latest card data. HDFC revises reward rates and benefits regularly (Privilege's base earn changed in May 2026), so confirm the current terms on HDFC's site before applying.

The bottom line

Diners Club in India means HDFC, and the choice comes down to how much you spend. Diners Club Black Metal is one of the best reward cards in the country for those who qualify; Privilege is a solid low-fee dining card for everyone else. Not sure a Diners card suits your spending?
